FAQ’s

Who are the people in Living Story?  I only see Elizabeth’s name listed.
Elizabeth is the founder and currently primary teacher, leader, and writer.  However, she is in association with counselors, seminary professors, coaches, and women’s ministry directors.  Each of these highly gifted individuals offers their expertise and counsel in the development of this venture. We envision that one day soon, they will also be in a position to offer events and resources under the umbrella of L.S.

We like to do our retreats a little differently.  Can you accommodate our schedule?
We can work with your group to come up with an event plan that embodies your vision for your event.  Contact Elizabeth and let’s talk about the possibilities.

What will we actually DO at the retreat/workshop?

•    You will engage in The Living Story of Scripture and the living story of real people like yourself, including yourself.
•    We teach the stories from the Bible in an engaging way and use every form of story available to us to get you excited about this Living Story of grace!  Music, movies, literature, television, your stories, art – “everything is declaring the glory of God!”
•    You will be offered time and guiding questions for individual reflection and journaling on the topics raised, and…
•    You will engage in lively small group discussion that does not focus on fixing but moves toward deeper heart engagement.
•    By embracing your story, you will formulate an understanding of how your story can better serve God’s people and God’s world.

How much does it cost to bring you here to speak or lead a retreat or workshop?  Does that cost include travel expenses?
To receive a complete listing of fee structures for various events, please contact Elizabeth.  Travel expenses are the responsibility of the hosting organization and are billed separately from the event fee.

What if our church or organization cannot afford the fee?
Here are some suggestions for funding ministry events:

•    Join with other churches or ministries in your area and spread the cost.  What a testimony of unity among Christians to have an event sponsored by different congregations or denominations!
•    Try booking us when we are already in your area.  We offer discounts for doing so, and travel expenses are shared.
•    Ask donors for financial support.  The Bible says there are people who have the spiritual gift of giving.  Tell them your vision and give them an opportunity to help.
•    Ask your denomination for funding.
If none of these suggestions work, contact Elizabeth.  If we think we can be a good fit for your event, we want to try to make it work.

Why do you charge a fee at all?  Isn’t this a ministry?
At Living Story, we invest energy and time to bring excellent materials and events.  Our primary mission remains to equip broken people to learn, live, and love in God’s story of grace.  We try to live in the paradox of charging fair prices that reflect our investment of time and energy and ministering to anyone God calls us to serve.  We want to serve anywhere God calls us, so please contact Elizabeth with financial concerns.
