great idea! our church has what we call DNA groups. They are based on Neil Cole's "Organic Church" Life Transformation Groups. (DNA = Divine Truth, Nurturing Relationships, & Apostolic (i.e. missional) Outreach)

We read large portions of scripture weekly...10 chapters at least...with 5 questions in mind (adapted from Darrell Guder):

(1) how does this text reveal me?
(2) how does this text speak good news to me?
(3) how does this text transform me?
(4) how does this text focus me?
(5) how does this text prepare me for ministry and mission?

So, it's not a Bible study per se & not a support group per se. Instead, it usually turns into an opportunity for us to share our stories...family, work, the past, the future, etc.

One surprising thing is that it has flown in the face of the usual expectations for men. Men, so it is believed, are better at sharing stories shoulder to shoulder. As it turns out, we actually look at each other and share our lives! (Groups are divided by sex...men meet with men; women meet with women)

highly recommend it as a way for men to share without really thinking about the fact that they are sharing! :-)
